Nobody should pay $300 to throw out a couch.

But in New York, that's been the deal for years. We built something better.

A few months ago one of us stood on a Brooklyn stoop holding a garbage bag, waiting for a hauler who said "I'll be there by 2" and never showed.

That hauler had already been paid a deposit. The couch was half-blocking the sidewalk. A DSNY truck rolled past and slowed down. Two neighbors walked by and asked what was going on.

We called 1-800-GOT-JUNK. They wanted $300 for a single sofa. We called LoadUp. They booked us for "Tuesday" and didn't show until Friday. Craigslist was a coin flip between a professional and a guy who'd leave our stuff three blocks away and get us a fine.

None of the options worked. So we built one that does.

Who we are

We're two New Yorkers who've lived here for 15+ years, moved apartments too many times, cleaned out too many relatives' places, and paid too much for too little every single time.

The idea behind JunkRabbit

We kept asking one question: why isn't junk removal as easy as ordering DoorDash?

You open the app. You pick what you want gone. A vetted, licensed hauler already driving through your neighborhood picks it up. You pay a fair price. Done.

That's the bar. That's what we built — a marketplace where local NYC haulers compete for your job in real time, which is the only honest way to keep prices fair. We don't own trucks. We don't pay franchise royalties. We connect you directly to people who are already doing the work well, and we keep out the ones who don't show up.

The model

No trucks, no franchise. Just a clean marketplace between New Yorkers who need stuff gone and licensed haulers already on the road. Customers pay 30–50% less than the national brands for the same — often better — service.

What we promise you

Not values. Not "mission statements." Just five specific things we'll deliver every time:

Instant quote in 7 seconds. No phone calls. No in-home estimates. Upload a photo, see the price.
Same-day pickup. Book before 2pm, hauler at your door within hours. Not Thursday. Not "sometime next week."
The price you see is the price you pay. No surprise stair fees, no elevator surcharges, no last-second "it's bigger than we thought."
Every hauler is vetted. Licensed, insured, background-checked. Haulers who don't show up get kicked off the platform — that's what a real marketplace does.
Real humans answer the phone. (347) 578-0248 goes to someone who can actually help. No IVR, no twenty-minute holds.

Real New Yorkers, real pickups

A small sample from our first weeks. Real customers, real boroughs, real items off the street:

Couch and queen mattress, picked up in Manhattan. $311 total — done in a single pickup window.
Miscellaneous small items and broken suitcases, Brooklyn walk-up. $191, same-day turnaround.
Large dresser from a Manhattan apartment. $181, two-person carry, done in one trip.

Real, not a mirage

Where we go from here

JunkRabbit is the first two weeks of what we think the next decade of junk removal looks like. A few things we're actively building, in order:

📞 Call (347) 578-0248 ✉ hello@junkrabbit.nyc

If you're a hauler reading this: join us.

If you're a customer: book a pickup.

If you want to say hi: hello@junkrabbit.nyc. We read every email.
