$108 flat · No walk-up surcharge · Same-day before 2pm
Peloton bike removal: flat $108. Crew brings the hex set, breaks the bike down on-site (handlebar, tablet, pedals, seat post, base frame), walks it out, and routes the touchscreen to certified e-waste. Same flat rate on any floor — 1st, 5th, 6th, doorman building, walk-up tenement. No walk-up surcharge, no e-waste fee.

Why Pelotons are awkward to get rid of in NYC

The Peloton bike is 135 lbs assembled, the handlebar block alone is 28 lbs, and the touchscreen is a 22-inch Android tablet with a lithium-ion battery. That last part matters: NYC's Electronic Equipment Disposal Law makes it illegal to put the tablet in regular trash, and DSNY won't take it on a bulk pickup. The bike frame is steel-and-aluminum (recyclable as scrap), but DSNY's "metal" pickup rules vary by neighborhood and require the tablet already separated.

Most NYC owners trying to DIY this end up with a Peloton sitting in the apartment for 6 months because the disassembly is intimidating, the tablet question is unclear, and the building won't take it on the curb. That's the gap. Upload a photo, $108 quote in 7 seconds, crew shows up with the tools.

What we actually do on a Peloton pickup

Crew arrives in your 2-hour window. They size up the doorway and the stair landings. Standard sequence for a Peloton bike:

  1. Tablet first. Two hex screws hold the touchscreen to the handlebar. Pop it off, set aside for separate e-waste routing.
  2. Handlebar block. 4mm hex × 4 — comes off as a single unit. Wrapped in a blanket.
  3. Pedals. Pedal wrench (15mm). Removes in 30 seconds per side.
  4. Seat post + saddle. Single quick-release lever and one hex bolt. Folds flat.
  5. Base frame. Front and rear stabilizers stay on. The frame at this point is small enough to clear a 32-inch doorway and a 180° tenement stair turn.
  6. Walk-out. Two-person carry, blanket-wrapped, down the stairs or out through the freight elevator.
  7. Truck. Tablet to e-waste bin, frame to scrap bin, accessories to mixed-load bin.

Why customers replace their Peloton

We move a lot of these. Common reasons we hear at pickup (we don't ask, but customers volunteer): joining a real gym after lockdown habits faded, moving to a smaller apartment, upgrading to Bike+ or Tread, the subscription started to feel like a tax, the bike became a laundry rack, divorce or breakup, family is downsizing, lost interest. None of these are the bike's fault. None of them require an explanation. We just take it.

Frequently asked

How much does Peloton removal cost in NYC?

Flat $108 for a Peloton bike or Bike+. The Peloton Tread runs $155 (treadmill base rate); the Tread+ is closer to $200 because of the size and weight. Same flat rate regardless of floor — no walk-up surcharge, no elevator fee, no Manhattan modifier. $75 minimum order; 10% off if you bundle 5+ items in the pickup.

Do I need to disassemble the Peloton myself?

No. The crew brings the disassembly kit — hex set (the Peloton bike is mostly 4mm, 5mm, 6mm hex), Phillips, slotted, strap kit. We pop the handlebars, separate the touchscreen tablet, remove the pedals, fold the seat post, and clear the frame in 10-15 minutes. Saves you a trip to the hardware store and a YouTube tutorial.

What happens to the Peloton touchscreen tablet?

E-waste. The tablet is a 22-23 inch Android-based touchscreen with a lithium-ion battery — illegal to landfill in NYC under the NYC Electronic Equipment Disposal Law. We route every Peloton tablet to a certified e-waste processor. The bike frame, steel, and aluminum components go to scrap recyclers.

Can you do a 5th-floor walk-up Peloton pickup?

Yes. The Peloton bike is 135 lbs assembled, less once it's broken down. Two-person carry standard. The handlebar comes off first (clearing the doorway and any narrow stair turns), then the seat post folds, then the base frame goes down on a dolly. 5th-floor walk-up is the same flat $108 as a ground-floor pickup.

Will you take the bike if it still works?

Yes — we don't ask why you're getting rid of it. Working Pelotons sometimes get routed to NYC reuse partners (gyms, schools, lower-income fitness programs) when the haulers can coordinate; the rest go to scrap. If donation is important to you, mention it at booking and we'll prioritize the reuse route where feasible.

What about the Tread or Tread+?

Peloton Tread (standard) is $155 — same as a standard treadmill. Tread+ (the larger one with the rubberized slat belt, 455 lbs) needs a four-person crew and runs closer to $200 because of the weight class. We disassemble the touchscreen and motor housing on-site, separate the belt deck, and walk it out in components. Pre-book the Tread+ at least 24 hours ahead so we can crew it right.

Do you handle the Peloton mat and weights too?

Yes. If you're decommissioning the whole setup — bike + mat + weights + shoes + bottle holder + the heart rate monitor — bundle them in the same pickup and it's just $108 for the bike (the small accessories ride along free under the bundled-item logic, no per-item charge for sub-$20 items).
