These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and JunkRabbit ("JunkRabbit," "we," "us"). They govern your access to and use of junkrabbit.nyc and the junk-removal booking services we provide (the "Service").
1. Acceptance of these Terms
By requesting a quote, booking a pickup, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy & Messaging Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a contract.
2. The Service
JunkRabbit is a marketplace that connects customers in the New York City area with independent, vetted junk-removal haulers. When you book, JunkRabbit coordinates and dispatches an independent hauler to perform your pickup. JunkRabbit facilitates the booking, pricing, payment, and support; the physical removal work is performed by the assigned hauler.
3. Quotes & pricing
- You receive a price by uploading photos of your items or selecting items from our list. The price shown at booking is the price you pay for the items you booked — there are no on-arrival upsells for those items.
- A minimum order of $75 applies. A 10% discount applies automatically to orders of 5 or more items.
- Quotes are based on the information and photos you provide. If, on arrival, the items differ materially from what was booked (for example, additional items, or items significantly larger or heavier than represented), the hauler will show you an updated price for the difference, which you must approve before any additional work is performed.
- Truck-size (volume) estimates. If you book by truck size (for example, a “½ truck” load) instead of selecting individual items, the price is an estimate based on volume. To confirm and lock that price, we may ask you to upload photos of all the items you want removed (from your order page after booking) so we can verify the scope of work. If photos are not provided, or if the actual volume of items is larger than represented, the hauler will show you an updated price for the difference, which you must approve before any additional work is performed.
- Prices include hauler labor, carry-out from any floor, and standard disposal fees as described on our site at the time of booking.
4. Payment & deposits
- Payment is processed securely through our payment processor, Stripe. By booking, you authorize us to charge your selected payment method for the agreed amount.
- For most bookings, your card is charged at the time of booking. For certain orders we may collect a deposit at booking and charge the remaining balance around the time of the pickup; where a deposit applies, the deposit amount and remaining balance are shown to you before you pay, and you authorize the later balance charge to the same payment method.
- Approved additional items (see Section 3) are charged to your payment method.
- You are responsible for any taxes or carrier/bank fees that may apply to your payment.
5. Scheduling, access & your responsibilities
- You select a pickup date and a 2-hour arrival window. Windows are estimates and may be affected by traffic, weather, building access, and prior jobs.
- Someone 18 or older must be present to provide access and confirm which items are to be removed, unless you have arranged otherwise with us in advance.
- You are responsible for providing accurate item, address, and building/access information, and for ensuring the items are accessible and that you have the right to dispose of them.
- If your building requires a Certificate of Insurance (COI), provide the requirements when you book and we will arrange it.
6. Items we cannot accept
For safety and legal reasons, haulers may decline certain materials, including hazardous waste, chemicals, asbestos, medical or biohazardous waste, flammables, and similar regulated materials. If you are unsure whether an item can be removed, contact us before booking at hello@junkrabbit.nyc. We may refuse or stop a job involving unsafe or illegal items.
7. Cancellations, rescheduling & refunds
- You may cancel or reschedule for free up to 48 hours before your scheduled pickup window — for a cancellation, you'll receive a full refund of your order total (minus the non-refundable payment-processing fees) to your original payment method. Cancellations or reschedules made within 48 hours of the window are handled case by case and a fee may apply.
- If a hauler arrives within the scheduled window and cannot complete the job due to no access, no one present, or items that were misrepresented or cannot legally be removed, a fee may apply or the booking may be treated as completed.
- JunkRabbit Service Day & Price Guarantee: Your price is guaranteed and will not change on site, as long as the items and access details you provided are accurate. If we are unable to complete your pickup on your scheduled service date due to circumstances on our end, we will work with you to reschedule and credit 10% of your order total back to your original payment method within 5–7 business days. The Service Day portion of this guarantee applies to prepaid online bookings placed at least 24 hours before your scheduled service date; it does not apply to same-day or short-notice bookings (placed less than 24 hours before the service window), or to delays caused by severe weather, unsafe conditions, no access, no one present, or items that were misrepresented.
- Approved refunds are returned to your original payment method, typically within 5–10 business days. Payment-processing fees (charged by our payment processor and retained by them even when a charge is refunded) are non-refundable, so refunds are issued net of those fees.
8. Independent haulers
Haulers who perform pickups are independent contractors, not employees of JunkRabbit. We vet haulers and require that they be licensed and insured, but they exercise independent control over how they perform the work. JunkRabbit is not responsible for the acts or omissions of a hauler except as required by law or as expressly stated in these Terms.
9. Disclaimers & limitation of liability
The Service is provided "as is." To the fullest extent permitted by law, JunkRabbit disclaims all warranties not expressly stated here, and our total liability arising out of or relating to the Service or any pickup will not exceed the amount you paid for the pickup giving rise to the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law. You agree to indemnify JunkRabbit against claims arising from your misrepresentation of items, your lack of right to dispose of items, or your violation of these Terms.
10. Text messaging
If you opt in, we may send you service-related text messages. Message and data rates may apply, message frequency varies, and you can reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help at any time. Full details — including the types of messages, opt-out, and how we handle your mobile information — are in our Privacy & Messaging Policy.
11. Governing law & changes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in New York. We may update these Terms from time to time; material changes are reflected by the "Last updated" date above, and your continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
