Borough Park works on a different calendar than the rest of NYC

Borough Park is the largest Hasidic Jewish neighborhood in the United States, with significant Bobover, Satmar, Belz, Vizhnitz, Munkacs, and many other Hasidic communities living together across the residential blocks between roughly 38th and 60th Streets, from McDonald Avenue west to Fort Hamilton Parkway. The housing is mostly brick row houses and two-family attached homes built between the 1910s and 1940s, with smaller layers of pre-war elevator buildings and newer mid-rise developments. Many households are large (often 6-12 children) and multi-generational; furniture rotates as kids age into bigger beds and out of school-age desks.

The neighborhood operates on the Jewish calendar in ways that affect every vendor's scheduling. Friday afternoon through Saturday night is Shabbos — no work happens for residents, and respectful vendors don't schedule pickups during that window. Yom Tov (the major Jewish holidays — Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Sukkot, Shavuot, Pesach) effectively pauses the neighborhood for 1-2 days at a time, several times a year. Chol Hamoed (the intermediate days of Sukkot and Pesach) is workable for some households and not for others — we ask when booking.

Our crews are familiar with the neighborhood's pace and calendar. Sunday mornings are popular booking windows. Friday morning through midday is also workable. We don't schedule after midday Friday or anytime Saturday.
