What Stapleton pickups actually look like

How much does junk removal cost in Stapleton?

Flat-rate. Sofa $170, queen mattress $139, refrigerator $221, washer $179. $75 minimum. The Verrazzano toll into Staten Island is built into our route economics — no separate Staten Island upcharge.

Do you handle the NYCHA Stapleton Houses?

Yes — NYCHA Stapleton Houses (Tompkins Avenue / Hill Street). Standard NYCHA bulk pickup is once a month and doesn't cover same-day or heavy items. We pull up to the curb, the tenant brings the item down (or we go in if it's a walk-up), and we haul. Same flat rate as everywhere else in the borough.

Victorian houses on Van Duzer and Cebra — driveway access?

Most of the North Shore Victorians have driveway or curb access on the front. The blocks are steep (Van Duzer climbs sharply north of Bay Street), but the trucks handle it. Larger frames may need disassembly at the door — the wraparound staircases on the original 1880s-1920s frame houses are tight.

Spanish on request?

Sí. Stapleton has a meaningful Hispanic resident population — Mexican and Central American households along Bay Street and the surrounding blocks. Spanish-speaking crew members available on request.

Can you stage trucks from the SI Ferry / Tompkinsville side?

Yes — the Ferry terminal access via Bay Street is our standard route into the North Shore. We come over the Verrazzano from Brooklyn for most pickups, but the ferry-side approach works for Tompkinsville and northern Stapleton.

Stapleton is the most architecturally interesting square mile on Staten Island's North Shore. East of Bay Street and the SI Ferry corridor, the residential blocks climb steeply uphill — Van Duzer, Cebra, Brownell, Vanderbilt — past dozens of 1880s through 1920s Queen Anne and Victorian frame houses converted into two-family rentals. Front porches, side driveways, wraparound staircases. Trucks navigate the grade fine; the bigger question is whether a sofa fits through the original front-door frame or has to come down the porch steps.

Bay Street is Stapleton's commercial spine — restaurants, small businesses, the Stapleton MakerSpace, the recently developed Urby waterfront. Pickups along Bay Street are easy: street parking, short dolly distance. We also cover the NYCHA Stapleton Houses (Tompkins Avenue / Hill Street) — same flat-rate pickup as every other Staten Island address; NYCHA's monthly bulk pickup doesn't cover same-day mattress hauls, so this is a regular call.

Trucks arrive over the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge from Brooklyn (the $11.19 toll is in our route economics — we don't pass it through as a separate line). For the Tompkinsville side and the ferry-adjacent blocks of northern Stapleton, the SI Ferry approach from Bay Street works equally well.

What we move out of Stapleton every week

  • Victorian two-family pickups — front-porch sofa removal, attic cleanouts, basement-stored bedroom sets. Original frame houses on Van Duzer, Cebra, Brownell.
  • NYCHA Stapleton Houses — mattresses, dressers, fridge swaps. Tenant brings down or we go up.
  • Bay Street commercial — small restaurant turnover, retail fixtures, office furniture from the Stapleton MakerSpace and the Urby co-working spaces.
  • Estate cleanouts — long-held North Shore homes settling decades of stored furniture. We sort: keep, donate (Stapleton-area thrift), dispose.
  • Appliance swaps — refrigerator and washer/dryer turnover in the two-family rental stock.
