Post-Renovation Debris

We haul the whole mess — often same-day — and we load it, so you're not filling a dumpster yourself. Flat pricing from $162 a cubic yard or by the truckload. How renovation debris removal works

1. Photograph the pile

Drywall, tile, flooring, old cabinets, fixtures. We estimate the cubic yards from the photos.

2. Flat quote in seconds

$162 a cubic yard, or a flat truckload price — fixed before the crew arrives, no hourly meter.

3. We load & haul out

The crew bags and carries it out — no dumpster to fill, no permit — and takes it to a licensed transfer station.

How much does post-renovation debris removal cost in NYC?

Priced by volume — per cubic yard for loose debris, or by the truckload for a bigger remodel. Same flat rate across every borough and floor.

JobTypical price
Loose debris (drywall, tile, offcuts)$162 per cubic yard
Bathroom remodel debris$110–$280 (small–large pile)
Kitchen remodel debris$325–$580 (¼–½ truck)
Whole-home gut renovation$985–$1,970 (1–2 truckloads)
By the truck (one 16-cy load)$325 (¼) – $985 (full)

$75 minimum. Debris is heavy, so pricing follows volume — we confirm the cubic yards from your photos and the number doesn't change when the crew shows up. Old cabinets, a torn-out vanity, a tub or a fridge come out in the same load, no separate charge to schedule.

Does DSNY pick up renovation debris? (No — and that matters)

The NYC Department of Sanitation does not collect construction & demolition (C&D) debris — drywall, plaster, tile, flooring, cabinets, and fixtures — from residents or contractors. Unlike household furniture (which DSNY does take on your collection night), remodel debris is legally the property owner's responsibility to remove through a private carter, and leaving it bagged at the curb is illegal dumping that can draw a DSNY summons. So the "just put it out with the trash" option doesn't exist for a renovation. Your two legal choices are a permitted dumpster you load yourself, or a licensed haul-out crew — which is what we are. We take the debris to a licensed transfer station, recycle clean metal and reusable fixtures where we can, and hand you a clean apartment.

3 ways to clear renovation debris in NYC — compared

OptionCostSpeedThe catch
DSNY curbsideNot availableWon't take C&D debris at all; leaving it out is an illegal-dumping summons
Dumpster rental~$400–$800+/wk + permitDays to scheduleYou load it yourself; a sidewalk/roadway container needs a NYC permit and sits out for days
JunkRabbit$162/cy · $325–$985/truckSame-dayWe load and carry it out, legal disposal — priced from a photo, no container, no permit

The honest tradeoff: a dumpster is cheaper per cubic yard if you have a big multi-week gut job and don't mind loading it. For a bathroom or kitchen remodel that's done, a same-day haul-out is faster, needs no permit, and the crew does the lifting.

What we haul — and what we can't

✓ We take

Drywall & plaster, tile & backsplash, wood/laminate flooring, carpet & padding, old cabinets & countertops, vanities, tubs, sinks & toilets, doors & trim, and the offcuts and packaging left behind. Old appliances too.

✗ We can't take

Hazardous materials — wet paint, solvents, asbestos, or lead-painted debris require licensed abatement. Not sure? Send a photo and we'll tell you in seconds.

♻️ We recycle & donate

Clean metal, working appliances, and reusable fixtures (a good vanity, a solid door) are recycled or donated where feasible; the rest goes to a licensed transfer station per NYC rules.

Co-op or condo board require insurance before debris leaves the unit? We email a Certificate of Insurance to your managing agent within hours — free — naming the building as additional insured.

Freight elevators & walk-ups

We coordinate the service entrance and freight-elevator window, and carry heavy debris down walk-ups — same flat price either way, no per-flight charge.

No street footprint

No dumpster on the sidewalk, no DOT/DSNY container permit, no complaints from neighbors — the debris goes straight from the unit to the truck.

When people book renovation debris removal

DIY remodel is done

You gutted the bathroom yourself over a weekend and now there's a pile of tile and the old vanity. We clear it Monday.

Contractor left the mess

The reno's finished but the debris is still stacked in the hallway. We haul it so you can move back in.

Flip or turnover

Prepping a unit for sale or a new tenant after a refresh — one flat haul-out clears the debris and the old fixtures together.

Frequently asked questions

How much does post-renovation debris removal cost in NYC?

$162 per cubic yard of debris, or by the truckload from $325 (¼) to $985 (full). A bathroom remodel is usually $110–$280, a kitchen about $325–$580, and a whole-home gut one to two truckloads ($985–$1,970). $75 minimum, priced from your photos, and the crew loads it.

Does DSNY take renovation debris?

No — the NYC Sanitation Department doesn't collect construction & demolition debris from residents or contractors, and leaving it at the curb is illegal dumping. It has to go through a private carter, which is us.

Do I need a dumpster and a street permit?

Usually not — a sidewalk dumpster needs a NYC permit and days of setup. For most finished remodels we do a same-day haul-out from the unit instead: no container, no permit.

Can you take the old cabinets, vanity, and tub too?

Yes — the fixtures come out in the same load as the loose debris, no separate trip to schedule.

Can you send a COI to my building?

Yes — free and same-day, emailed to your managing agent, naming the building as additional insured, so the freight elevator can be booked.

What can't you take?

Hazardous materials — wet paint, solvents, asbestos, or lead-painted debris — which require licensed abatement. Send a photo if you're unsure and we'll tell you in seconds.
