Upload Photos & Get Quote →Jamaica is southeast Queens's central hub — anchored by the Jamaica Center transit complex (E, J, Z, F trains; the Long Island Rail Road's busiest non-Manhattan station; AirTrain JFK). The neighborhood radiates outward from the downtown commercial core (Jamaica Avenue, 165th Street, Hillside Avenue) into residential subdivisions: Hollis to the north, St. Albans and Cambria Heights to the east, South Jamaica and Baisley Park to the south, Jamaica Hills and Briarwood to the west.
Housing splits between three main types. Downtown Jamaica has mid-rise rental and condo construction along Hillside Avenue and Sutphin Boulevard, plus older prewar walk-up apartments. South Jamaica (south of Liberty Avenue) is overwhelmingly detached and semi-detached 1920s-50s one- and two-family brick houses with driveways. NYCHA presence is substantial — Baisley Park Houses, South Jamaica Houses, plus surrounding complexes. Standard NYCHA workflow applies.
Demographically Jamaica is one of NYC's most internationally diverse neighborhoods. Caribbean (Jamaican, Trinidadian, Guyanese, Haitian), Bangladeshi (especially the Hillside Avenue corridor through Briarwood), African (Senegalese, Nigerian), and Spanish-speaking households are all routine on our routes. Multilingual crew on request.
