What Throgs Neck pickups actually look like

Throgs Neck is the southeast tip of the Bronx — a waterfront peninsula bounded by the East River, Eastchester Bay, and the Long Island Sound. The housing stock is overwhelmingly single-family detached: 1930s through 1950s brick and frame houses along E Tremont, Schurz Avenue, Lafayette Avenue, and Harding Avenue. Side driveways and attached garages are the norm. The vibe is more "outer Long Island suburb" than "Bronx" — and the families tend to know each other.

Two unusual housing enclaves anchor the neighborhood: Locust Point (a private waterfront community of 1920s-30s bungalows on the Sound side) and Edgewater Park (a similar cooperative bungalow community on Eastchester Bay). Access to both is via single-lane lanes; we use a 12-foot box truck on these runs rather than the full 16-cu-yd because the lanes don't accommodate the bigger truck.

The seasonal driver here is SUNY Maritime College on Fort Schuyler, just past the Throgs Neck Bridge anchorage. Cadet housing turns over in May and December — predictable mattress, dresser, and minifridge volume. We batch with the campus housing office or coordinate directly with cadets.
