Upload Photos & Get Quote →Sugar Hill is one of the most historically significant neighborhoods in Manhattan — the Black-cultural and intellectual heart of Harlem during the 1920s-40s. The name comes from the "sweet life" Black professionals and artists found here at a time when most of the city was segregated. W.E.B. Du Bois, Thurgood Marshall, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Cab Calloway, Sonny Rollins, Sugar Ray Robinson all lived here. The neighborhood occupies the high bluff at the western edge of Harlem (roughly West 145th to West 155th, between St. Nicholas and Edgecombe Avenues), overlooking the Polo Grounds site and the Harlem River.
The housing stock is overwhelmingly 1890s-1920s brownstone and limestone row houses (3-4 stories, high stoops, parlor floors, original cornices) plus prewar 6-12 story elevator co-op buildings along the avenues. The Hamilton Heights / Sugar Hill Historic District (designated 1980 with expansions in the 2000s) covers most of the historic core. We respect the historic-district sidewalks — no truck on the pavement, dolly down the stoop to the curb.
Demographically, the neighborhood remains a substantial African-American cultural center with growing Dominican and Puerto Rican households. Spanish on request alongside English.

"Uploaded a photo of my old couch and had a quote in literally 7 seconds. Hauler showed up same day. Way cheaper than 1-800-GOT-JUNK."
"Moved out of my Williamsburg apartment and needed everything gone. JunkRabbit cleared the whole place in 2 hours. The pricing was transparent — no surprises."
"Had a fridge and washer to get rid of. They handled the heavy lifting from my 4th floor walk-up. Price was exactly what the quote said."
