UES east of Lexington — prewar walk-ups along the avenues, postwar doorman towers on York and East End, and the 86th Street Q-train commercial corridor. Estate cleanouts are a significant share of the work.

Upload Photos & Get Quote →Yorkville is the easternmost slice of the Upper East Side — bounded by Lexington Avenue on the west, the East River on the east, 79th Street on the south, and 96th Street on the north. The neighborhood has a different feel than the deeper UES (Park / Madison / Fifth Avenue) — quieter, more residential, less polished. The dominant housing types are 5- and 6-story prewar tenement walk-ups along 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Avenue (built in the early 1900s for working-class German, Hungarian, and Czech immigrants — the neighborhood was once nicknamed "Germantown"), plus 1960s-80s postwar doorman towers on York Avenue and East End Avenue.
The 86th Street commercial corridor (Q train, the Second Avenue Subway since 2017) is the spine. Side-street truck staging (84th, 85th, 87th, 88th) is the norm — 86th itself is bus-priority during business hours.
Demographically, Yorkville has shifted from its German-Hungarian working-class roots to a mix of older long-tenured rent-stabilized residents and younger UES professionals priced out of the Park/Fifth corridor. Estate cleanouts are a meaningful share of bookings — original 1960s tenants in long-held rent-stabilized walk-ups settling estates.

"Moved out of my Williamsburg apartment and needed everything gone. JunkRabbit cleared the whole place in 2 hours. The pricing was transparent — no surprises."
"Had a fridge and washer to get rid of. They handled the heavy lifting from my 4th floor walk-up. Price was exactly what the quote said."
